The City & Guilds 2391-10 Inspection, Testing, Design and Certification of Electrical Installations Course at The Builder Training Centre is ideally suited to those with prior experience of inspection and testing of electrical installations, who wish to carry out commercial, industrial and domestic installations, including periodic inspections.

The 2391-10 closed for new registrations on 31st July 2012.  This qualification has now been replaced with the 2394-01 and 2395-01 Inspection and Testing Qualifications. Please view links for 2394 and 2395 Courses for more information.

The Builder Training Centre (The BTC) offers high quality structured 2391-10 Inspection and Testing Courses, which consists of an initial 4 days training followed by a further 2 individual days to undertake your written and practical exams. Our instructors are qualified, highly experienced, knowledgeable and enthusiastic Tradespersons, so students can take advantage of all the tips of the trade, personal experiences and advice they offer. This short course is intensive, but the atmosphere is relaxed and enjoyable which creates a good learning environment.

This course is designed for experienced personnel who have prior knowledge and experience of inspecting and testing of electrical installations, and who wish to obtain the required qualification and skills they need to carry out inspection and testing on commercial, industrial and domestic installations, including periodic inspections. Anyone who doesn’t have previous inspection and testing experience or wishes to refresh themselves of the correct methods may need to consider attending the City & Guilds (2392-10) Certificate in Fundamental Inspection, Testing and Initial Verification course. Course Content:

  • Statutory duties and safe working practices
  • Requirements for Inspection, Testing and Certification, including:
    • Introduction to Inspection and Testing
    • Testing Equipment
    • Continuity of Protective Conductors
    • Insulation Resistance Tests
    • Polarity Tests
    • Earth Electrode Tests
    • Earth Fault Loop Impedance Tests
    • RCD Tests
    • Requirements for Special Installation
    • Completion of Certificates and Recording of Results
  • Use of ‘IEE Inspection and Testing Guidance Note 3′ book
  • Preparation of Written and Practical Assessments

 

Pre-requisites:

Candidates must be 18 years or over to register for this qualification. Prior experience and knowledge of Inspection and Testing of Electrical Installations is essential. It is recommended that candidates have the City & Guilds (2382-10) BS 7671:2008 17th Edition Wiring Regulations qualification, City & Guilds (2382-12) BS 7671:2008 (2011) or a similar qualification eg VRQ Level 2 Domestic Installers (Part P) qualification where candidates have demonstrated a sound knowledge and understanding of BS 7671:2008 requirements. For further information on our Part P Courses click here  and for further information on our C&G (2382-12) 17th Edition Courses click here

On completion of the course students then return to complete the following:

2391-101 Inspection, Testing and Certification of Electrical Installations: 2 hours and 30 minutes written examination (dates for this examination are pre-set by City & Guilds and are usually at 6.30 pm on selected Thursday evenings)

Successful candidates of the above can then move on to:

2391-102 Practical Application of the Inspection, Testing and Certification of Electrical Installations: 3 hour practical assessment

We have facilities for men and women! You will find our prices are competetitive, and include all exam fees, but for health and safety reasons you are required to have steel toe capped footwear to wear throughout the course. These can be purchased from reception on your first morning for £20 if required.
