Overview

The Builder Training Centre (The BTC) offers high quality structured In-Service Inspection and Testing Courses (more commonly known as PAT Testing Courses). This can be attended as a 2-day course over consecutive weekdays.

Our instructors are qualified, highly experienced, knowledgeable and enthusiastic Tradespersons, so students can take full advantage of all the tips of the trade, personal experiences and practical advice they offer. This short course is intensive, but no compromise is made on the course content. The atmosphere is relaxed and enjoyable which creates a good learning environment.

EET/PAT testing stands for “Electrical Equipment Testing” or “Portable Appliance Testing.” It is a process used to ensure the safety of electrical equipment, particularly portable appliances, in various settings such as workplaces, rental properties, and public venues. The purpose of EET/PAT testing is to identify any potential electrical faults or defects in these appliances that could pose a safety risk to users or occupants.

This City & Guilds 2377-77 (previously 2377-22 & 2377-32) electrical course is ideal for people who carry out, or intend to carry out, in-service inspection and testing (PAT Testing) of electrical equipment within a commercial environment, including Landlord rented properties, to ensure all electrical equipment is tested and certified as being safe for continued use. If you already work as an Electrician, this qualification will enable you to enhance your current service offering to a much wider audience within the electrical industry.

Steel toe-capped safety footwear is a health and safety requirement for all our courses. We stock steel-toe capped boots from size 3 to 13 (with some half sizes), which can be purchased on the first morning of your course for just £20.00. You should wear suitable comfortable clothing.

You are welcome to bring your own food to eat in our centre. Alternatively, we sell a small selection of hot and cold drinks and snacks in our canteen, or you could purchase food from one of the local supermarkets/shops/cafes/restaurants within just a few minutes’ walk.

Most students also find it beneficial to bring Post-it notes or sticky tags, which they can use to separate their books into sections. Additionally, a pen and a non-programmable calculator are permitted for the exam.

Provided you are aged at least 18 years and have a basic knowledge of electrical principles, this course is suitable for you. Whether your background is already in a trade or something completely different, these skills can be learnt and applied directly after the course.

If you meet the pass criteria of the online theory exam, you will be awarded the following qualification certificate:

Testimonials

"Throughout my courses the service and helpfulness of all the staff at The BTC have been excellent. I will be returning shortly. Very happy 5*. Despite living 150 miles away I will much prefer to travel here rather than locally as the trainers & training here is second to none. Many thanks."

"Having driven passed the centre quite a bit, my initial thoughts were that it was just a ‘small place’ and I didn’t have any real high expectations. WOW…how wrong was I. It’s fantastic. Nice facilities and atmosphere. Bit cold in the clsssroom but keeps you alert! I will definitely be doing my 2391 here if for anything – Richard – he is the best teacher anyone could ask for and his genuine concern for students is very rare. Richard made the course for me and I would highly recommend others to come here."
